I am presenting a paper at the Birthkeeper Summit, in Berkeley, California on May 2, 2015. The title of my presentation is: Postpartum Presence: Empowering the Family Space in the Postpartum Period.
The Birthkeeper Summit runs from April 30 – May 3, 2015. It is a gathering of people from around the world whose mission is to create a new paradigm for birth and maternal health, and features several generations of birthkeepers, birth activists, social justice activists, indigenous leaders, and more. As a life long birthkeeper myself, I am thrilled to be part of this event that shares my work on the postnatal experience. The workshop will cover how parents navigate the fourth trimester, the impact of having a baby on the couple relationship, the multidimensional aspects of life after birth and tools to manage and enhance the experience, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and ways to integrate the experience of becoming a family within a holistic paradigm.
