The Tyranny of Expectations

October 13, 2016 by Diane Speier 2 Comments

I recently received an email about dealing with disappointment, which often happens as the result of unmet expectations we have about how things should be or turn out. We can feel a range of emotions when we feel let down, by ourselves or by others. It’s a tough feeling to experience but it’s a natural part of life. Sometimes those expectations are external, imposed on us by others who expect us to behave in a certain way, leaving Continue Reading …

World Maternal Mental Health Day 2016

May 4, 2016 by Diane Speier 2 Comments

Today, 4 May 2016, is World Maternal Mental Health Day, and starts a month of focused attention on the challenges of perinatal mental health issues worldwide. With 1 in 7 women suffering from postnatal depression, and 1 in 10 fathers also experiencing depressive symptoms, the effects of this illness for each individually, their relationship, and their developing child are pernicious. Another growing trend is perinatal anxiety, which affects 33% of mothers and 17% of fathers. Even though it Continue Reading …

Time to Talk About Mental Health – #timetotalk

February 4, 2016 by Diane Speier 4 Comments

Time to Change Campaign Today is Time to Talk Day 2016, part of the UK’s Time to Change campaign to end mental health discrimination and to raise awareness about mental illness. Most people are not aware that 1 in 4 people will experience mental illness each year, and the main reason for this lack of awareness is the stigma that is attached to mental illness, making people reluctant to admit they are struggling. “I ended up having a pool birth and had a beautiful baby boy. Diane provided us support and advice after the birth for my recovery, breastfeeding, looking after the new baby and also general advice to help us as a family and how to adjust. Having Diane work with us gave us both confidence and took away the few niggling concerns that we both had. She is a lovely, warm person to work with, and I would recommend her to anyone who may be looking for that reassurance in this special life changing time, as I did.” –S. Khatun

“Just a short note to say thanks again for all your help. You were really terrific, both on camera and off. We never would have been able to get through the shoot so quickly if it hadn’t been for the fact that you were so well rehearsed and professional. It seems to me that you’ve got a real career in video –if you ever find the time.”  – H. August

“An initial ‘fact finding’ discussion was undertaken before any regression work began. These regression sessions threw up, what for me, was enlightening and emotional, a journey of discovery and a better understanding of my current life, and the situation that surrounded me at the time. Diane had created carefully and extremely well prepared meditations and healing scripts, for use in the follow-up sessions, and which were recorded for use by myself at home, each one, based on the feedback, of my thoughts and feelings.”  –JEM

“Dear Diane, It was a pleasure to be asked to play such an important role in the Blessingway and an honour. It is a wonderful way of  ‘feeling’ and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to feel. All the best, always, Elena”
